The soccer referee blows his whistle and signals for halftime to commence. Exhausted from a grueling first half, both Southeast girls and our Falcons take a break before the second half. It’s senior night at the Moore Athletic Complex and the younger Falcons have done everything they could to make the 8 seniors, Paige Lindsay, Jane Lindsay, Bryce Liebel, Kassandra Woodruff, Faith Rodriguez and captains Jenna Turner, Lindsay Barton and Caroline Gregory, feel as special as they really are.

Beginning at lunch, seniors were given the VIP treatment. Each member of the falcon squad, Coach Howell included, celebrated this day by a team lunch in the boardroom. Falcons were treated to a hearty lunch of Olive Garden before the big game. Saint Stephen’s was favored to win against Southeast. There must have been something in the breadsticks, as our Falcons beat the Seminoles 3-1.

During the luncheon, gifts were given to the seniors as well. All of the teammates pooled money and efforts to give each senior Nike bags that were designed with last names and numbers on the backs. Each bag was filled with extra little gifts, including Starbucks gift cards.

The halftime ceremony was held in the middle of the field, complemented by applauding supporters in the audience. Each senior walked arm-in-arm with their parents while an announcer read their names and accomplishments. Instead of this being a somber moment, all Falcons were in high spirits. Paige Lindsay, Jane Lindsay and Faith Rodriguez, all new to the team this year, were praised just as highly as returning captains and teammates. With everyone sharing their favorite moments on the field and about their team, it was a true testament to how many amazing ladies the Falcons will to be losing after graduation.

Captain Jenna Turner appreciates the effort her teammates put into the event on and off the soccer pitch. As a member of the squad for several years prior to being a senior, she understands that planning and executing an event such as this is no small task. What she valued most about the night was the unity displayed by her fellow falcons, that allowed Senior Night to end with a win. “It was amazing this year just because all the girls came together to make it an amazing night for all eight of us.” Everyone feels that Senior Night did exactly what it was supposed to: celebrated the achievements of these girls who will be greatly missed.
