After getting off to a rough start, the Falcon girls swim team went on to win their swim meet Wednesday, September 19th, against Braden River, 153-144.
Sophomore swimmers Lauri Schleicher and Kristin Brockett both won individual events, while Ellie Berdusco broke her own school record in the 200 IM. The girls’ 200 freestyle relay, featuring twins Kristi and Lauri Schleicher, Berdusco and Brockett, also took first.
The Falcon boys suffered a loss, scoring 114 to the Pirates’ 164. However, taking first was the boys 200 freestyle relay, with members Charlie Boothby, Harris Dunlap, Christopher Mattheys and Brice Tilton.
Despite the loss, Coach Lee Cucchi remains optimistic about the upcoming weeks. “The loss was solely due to the depth of Braden Rivers’ team,” she said.
“This weekend is our first prelim/finals meet, and I know the boys will step it up and swim many personal best times.”
Overall, the team had 30 best times against Braden River.
The Falcons are currently preparing for the Tampa Bay Classic meet, which will be held Saturday the 29th at North Shore pool.
