Falcons fall to Saint John Neumann

The Falcons suffered a tough loss Friday night in the Varsity football game against St. John Neumann.

The Falcons won the coin toss at the start of the game and elected to defer.

The Celtics got two touchdowns in the first quarter and scored several more times in the second. By halftime they were leading 36-0.

Though the Falcons hoped to come back in the second half, they were only able to score once. Junior Herman Israelsson rushed for 28 yards to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The final score was 50-7, Celtics.

The Falcons’ offense was riddled with mistakes throughout the game, from fumbled snaps to dropped passes. To make matters worse, the Celtics were able to capitalize by recovering the fumbles or causing the Falcons to lose even more yardage.

The Falcons certainly have their work cut out for them if they want to beat First Baptist Academy next week in their first away game of the season.

Junior Tiag Bhamber, strong safety and wingback for the Falcons, said the team was shocked by the loss, but they were planning to work harder than ever in practice this week in hopes of bouncing back against First Baptist Academy.

“This week of practice is going to be more disciplined. Fumbles, mistakes, and a lack of effort won’t be tolerated. We made a lot of mistakes last week, but we can’t dwell on them. The important thing to do is to learn from our mistakes, and use them to make us better. If we do that, we’ll win the game,” he said.
