Students, faculty and family gather in the Upper School commons to celebrate the four seniors signing to play a sport in college.

Athletic Director Cole Hudson introduces Sophia Ierulli, Kavi Riedi, Kian Riedi, and Keymani Dillingham as the four seniors. “This is a huge accomplishment,” Hudson said. “Only 7% of student athletes sign to play a sport at the collegiate level.”

Signing to play volleyball at Vassar College, setter Sophia Ierulli congratulated her fellow signees and shared a few motivating words. “For those who want to play a sport in college, don’t give up, you’ve got this.”

Coach Shameka Burdick spoke on behalf of Kavi Riedi, who is signed with Ithaca College for cross country and track and field. According to Burdick, Kavi’s hard work is shown on and off of the track. “At the end of the day, athletics will end at some point, but Kavi’s responsibility and determination will be everlasting.”

Signing for track at field at Ithaca College, Kian Riedi thanked his family and coaches for their support. Coach Dan Krone, who spoke on Kian’s behalf, described him as a strong and focused athlete who “doesn’t shy away from the work.”

Keymani Dillingham, signing for track and field at Jacksonville State University, gave a special shoutout to her mom for being her biggest supporter. “I did it mama, we did it. I wouldn’t be where I am and who I am without you.”

The four student athletes make their commitment official by signing with their college.

After signing, Coach Hudson gave his closing remarks to the four athletes. “We are so proud of you guys and can’t wait to see you perform at the next level.”
