With prom just a week away, excitement is building as students prepare for one of the biggest events of the school year. From decorations to music and food, plans are coming together for a night focused on celebration. Prom will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. this Saturday at Pier 22. Tickets are $90.
Junior Skylar Weaver, a member of the prom committee, shared details about this year’s setup.
“The decorations are gonna be really good,” Weaver said. “I know Mak is making a bunch of paper flowers, so that’s gonna be really cool.”
The theme will include pink flowers throughout the venue, along with blue, white, and gold accents.
The menu will feature a variety of options for students. “For the appetizers, it’s kind of regular stuff,” Weaver explained. “There’s chicken and steak, and also a vegetarian option, plus a garden pasta.”
Music will also be a key part of the night.
“We are going to have a DJ,” Weaver said. “We’ve made a playlist for him to pick some songs out.”
The playlist was created by the prom committee to include a mix of songs and styles, offering a wide variety of songs.
“It’s not just one artist, it’s a bunch of different options,” Weaver said.
Students say that they are most excited for the music and time with friends.
Senior Julia Clark is most excited about seeing her friends and enjoying the music, predicting that “Fein” by Travis Scott will be played often, noting that many people enjoy it.
As final preparations continue, students are getting ready for a night centered on music, fun, and making memories—especially for the nearing end of the semester for the Seniors.
