Are you tired of wearing boring outfits? You know, the ones from Target and Old Navy that make us all look the same? Want to find a style that sets you apart from the rest? Well hopefully this article will help you turn your swag on and get stylish.

Streetwear companies like Supreme and Bape are a new age style phenomenon, creating a new type of clothing that has the youth all over the world captivated. These companies use Hip-Hop culture and celebrities to promote their brand until they have a steady following.

What makes streetwear companies different from other fashion designers is the exclusivity (the difficulty of obtaining) of their items. These companies create a line of clothing and accessories, give a date they’ll become available online, and then they sell out within minutes.

The way streetwear companies justify the high prices items is using limited production. With each new line comes new designs and patterns never previously seen. This keeps the items fresh and interesting.

Supreme, which is by far the largest streetwear company internationally, originally based out of New York City, does something a little different then the rest of the companies. Along with releasing fresh new clothing in each drop, they also release a few random accessories that can sometimes be the most expensive things released. Although these random items are more so focused towards collectors, their exclusivity dramatically ramps up the value of the items.

For example, Supreme released a basketball in collaboration with the Spalding company that is currently being sold for around 25,000 US dollars. That’s absolutely insane!

Another strategy streetwear companies use is collaboration with smaller companies. High impact collaborations creates even more rarity for the items and brings more attention.Recently, Supreme had a collab with The North Face and the clothing line was focused more towards snow wear. These types of collabs with bigger, more popular companies are the ones that end up with crazy resale value on most of the items within the drop.

Lately, a surge of streetwear style has swept across through Saint Stephen’s students, who are trying out the new fashions. Freshman Chris Donnelly recently purchased a Supreme t-shirt from Supreme’s most recent drop for one hundred dollars. He plans to resell the shirt for double the amount he purchased it for on ebay or another popular resale sight called Grail.

Fellow freshman Calvin Sauerbeck has purchased multiple streetwear items in the past.  Recently, he purchased a piece from another company called AntiSocialSocialClub for about two hundred dollars.

The reason these street style companies is their different.  Consumers are sick of the same old brands and the same old looks.  The exclusive business model, along with the integration into the Hip-Hop culture, has made these brands very popular.  Young people now have a whole new dimension to add to their fashion.
