Lil Uzi Vert, Kodak Black, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and Boogie Wit Da Hoodie: if you haven’t heard of these artists yet, you have been missing out on some great hip-hop music. With the new wave of rap being heavily beat focused, these songs allow people to have an adrenaline rush just by listening to the them.

Kodak Black:

This Florida native had one of his biggest years in music last year. His breakout album, “Lil Big Pac,” made him a national sensation. Songs like “Too Many Years”, give us insight into the softer side of Kodak when he talks about his stints in prison. “Everything 1k’” shows us the tougher, street-like rapper that he was earlier in his music career. Kodak has dropped many hit singles as well, such as his most recent “Tunnel Vision” where he adds his opinion on some racial conflicts, as well as taking a dig at Donald Trump in his music video. One thing about Kodak is that you either love his music or hate his music. Senior Trevor Donnely said “Kodak is trash. Why are you writing about him,” but the people that love Kodak, or as he calls them: the “KodakFanatics”, are very passionate.

Lil Uzi Vert:

Lil Uzi Vert had a breakout year in 2016 with the album “Perfect LUV Tape,” which includes hits like “Do What I Want,” “Sideline Watching,” “Seven Million,” and “Ronda,” as well as featuring on Kodak Black’s hit track “Too Many Years.” Lil Uzi is best known for having hard bass drops and some of the best flowing choruses out of any underground trap style rapper. With his trademark “Ya Ya Ya,” he has quickly become a sensation and is said to be coming out with a new album in 2017. Having probably the one of the best voices out of anybody else on this list, it is quite possible he could be featuring in the choruses of some of the biggest rappers out there.

Post Malone:

If you don’t know who Post Malone is, then you at least know one of his songs, “White Iverson”. This song turned Post Malone into an overnight sensation, and was one of the most played songs on the radio in 2016. Many people, however, were worried that he would be a one hit wonder, but after coming out with the album “Stoney,” he proved to truly be an incredibly talented rapper. He showed that he can do more than just rap, by hitting the emotional side of many listeners with the song “I Fall Apart”. This album features a song where he collaborated with Justin Bieber in the “Deja Vu.” Any song on this album could be played on the radio and be an instant hit, and “Stoney” will undoubtedly be one of the albums of the year.

Travis Scott:

Travis Scott found major success after the album Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight was released in 2016. This album propelled him to stardom and led to him collaborate with many world renowned rappers such as Gucci Mane, and Wiz Khalifa. This album deviated from his older music; he doesn’t only rap, but he adds a strong bass, and utilizes and incredible voice to make this album his best ever. Travis Scott is also said to be releasing a lot of new music in 2017, so keep an eye out for his new hits.

Boogie Wit Da Hoodie:

Last but definitely not least, Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is probably the least known rapper on the list, but it is difficult to understand why. This Bronx rapper has some of the best beats to go behind an outstandingly talented voice. With his hits such as “Timeless,” “Still Think About You,” and “Bag on Me,” the young rapper has attracted the attention of many hip hop fans across the country. He is very young and considering the fact that he has only released one album so far and it was a major success, it is likely we will be seeing a lot more from Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
