Boys Varsity Lacrosse has started off their season with a scrimmage that demonstrated the strong chemistry that team has fostered. The boys ended with a 6-2 score against Port Charlotte High School. Ali Sammour ’16, Carson Milburn ’18, Grant Somerville ’17, and Samson Yang ’18 scored for the Falcons to secure the victory. These boys couldn’t have done it without their senior captains, Luc Goeders ’15 and Wyatt knopfke ’15.

With Matt Goeders ’17 in the net, the chances of Port Charlotte scoring were seldom. Also, the addition of their new head coach, Jamie Carver, helped instruct and guide the boys to a great their first win. Coach Carver said, “The varsity boys lacrosse team has progressed nicely since we began our 2015 campaign on January 20th. We are learning to play together and developing through the implementation of sound fundamental training.”

Highest scoring player, Ali Sammour ’16, gave his perspective of the game: “It showed our teams capabilities and what we are able to really do. We executed what coach told us to do and it allowed us to come out on top.”

The team mostly consists of freshmen, who are excited for their future together as a unit that will lead the Falcons to states in the upcoming years. Some athletic new lacrosse players, who are mostly freshmen, contributed greatly to the game as well: Andrew Ross ’18, Greyson Anthou ’18, and Luke Valadie ’18. There’s more to come for these young boys. With an exhilarating preseason scrimage, the boys are confident in their upcoming games.
