The long-awaited S.T.E.A.M Center, located on 41st St, is slated to open its doors this summer, in time for the ’25-26 school year.
The new building will provide a space for quality programming in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (“S.T.E.A.M”). In addition, the center will provide a venue for community events like dances, banquets, and graduations, as well as a performing arts center for the theatre and music programs.
Director of Development Mrs. Elizabeth Krupnick manages the funding for the S.T.E.A.M Center. According to Krupnick, the school has raised almost 10 million dollars for the project, and she’s excited about how the versatile addition will impact Saint Stephen’s and its surrounding community.
“I think that the space provides so much flexibility for the school,” Krupnick said. “We really thought about what would benefit the students and Saint Stephen’s when designing it.”
The center will house unique and fun events for the community, such as award ceremonies, dinners, and extracurricular activities like plays, musicals, and concerts. Krupnick also proposed fun ideas for events like a holiday gift market and robotics competitions.
Krupnick noted that the S.T.E.A.M Center will also be open to the community outside of Saint Stephen’s.
“We are going to offer it [the S.T.E.A.M Center] to anyone who wants to rent it out, whether that be for weddings, seminars, presentations, or parties,” Krupnick said. “We hope to partner with more non-profits and allow them the opportunity to come and use our space.”
Krupnick also added that the support of the school community, needed for the development of the S.T.E.A.M Center, has been tremendous.
“We are so excited to see what the S.T.E.A.M Center brings to the community.”
