This Friday, Upper School students and faculty will take a break from hitting the books to hit the gym for Saint Stephen’s Annual Gym Day! This action-packed day provides a fun twist to the first week of fourth interim.
The day begins with the faculty-student basketball game.  This event will be attended by the intermediate, middle, and upper school. However, only high schoolers and faculty can participate. After it goes down on the court, it will go up in spirit, as upper schoolers will remain in the gym to participate in numerous games for spirit points. This year, it is especially competitive as the junior class is very close to the dominating seniors.
Members from the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior class, along with upper school faculty, will go head to head in musical chairs, soccer, dodgeball, an NBA shootout, volleyball and possibly a game of Ships and Sailors.
Students must wear their class shirts (the ones each grade has customized), and are allowed to wear athletic shorts and sneakers.  No yoga pants or leggings.
There will be no cookie sales, so students are encouraged to bring a snack. However, there is no need to bring a lunch because following the activities in the gym will be the all school cook out. Students will line up and have the option of either a hotdog, cheese burger or veggie burger, accompanied by chips and cookies.
After an exhausting day and scrumptious meal, students will finish out the day by relaxing and watching a movie in the commons. Not that bad for a school day!
