This summer, the upper school faculty added a new asset to the Spanish department, Señora Silvia Moliné. Señora Moliné comes all the way from Altea, Spain. Moline is a long-time teacher, and during our interview, it was very clear the she has a strong passion for working with students. 

Q: Tell us about yourself: Where do you come from? What brings you to Saint Stephen’s?

A: Before coming to Bradenton, I was living in Altea, Spain. I came to Bradenton to be closer to my grandchildren. 

Q:How long have you been a teacher? What college did you attend?

A:I have been teaching for 27 years, I attend the University of Madrid. I have two degrees, Bachelor in Education and Spanish Literature

Q:What made you want to be a teacher?

A:You know when you’re little and you think about what you want to be when you grow up, I always have wanted to be a teacher…I have a passion for languages and history and they both go together.

Q:What are some fun facts about you or something people don’t know about you?

A:I speak four languages: Spanish, French, English, and Portuguese. 

Q:What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A:I have two things…One of my hobbies is hiking. My favorite place I’ve hiked is Alicante because from the mountains you see all the sea and the country land. Another one of my hobbies is to cook. If I’ve had a difficult day, I go to the kitchen.

Q:What’s your favorite thing about Saint Stephen’s so far?

A:I think my favorite thing is the people, everyone here is so nice, the faculty, administration, students. I am so happy to be here.

Q:Where in Spain are you from? If I was to travel there, where should I go?

A:My birth town is Madrid but I’ve lived in Altea and Brazil. I would recommend Madrid or Altea and San Sebastian in the Mediterranean.

Q:What’s your favorite genre of music?

A:I love Christian music, everything that is Chritstan music is for me.

Q:What’s your favorite clothing brand?

A:Zara. 

Q:What’s a weird snack combo you enjoy?

A: I don’t see a lot of people eating it here, toast with olive oil. 

Q:If you could have any superpower what would it be? 

A:To be invisible.
