Ms. Jurgensen

Ms. Jurgensen

Ms. Jurgensen is a music teacher here at SSES who is renowned for always working to better our music program. One of her specialties in her class is marimba music.

This summer she traveled to a small town called Richland, Washington to work at a marimba workshop. She stayed in an Airbnb “way of the beaten path” at a local woman’s home. Jurgensen says that the lady had “all kinds of different animals, and peacocks, and chickens which was pretty cool.”

She got to meet with teachers from all around the country who all share the love for music. She said she really enjoyed the workshop, but the fun didn’t end there. After the workshop was over, she met up with her sister to explore the Richland area and although “it was mostly desert” they both enjoyed their time.

After that, they went and spent a week in California at her sister’s house. Ms. Jurgensen says that overall her summer was very enjoyable as she learned new things, had fun, and met new people.
