Mrs. Pommer

Mrs. Pommer

“During the pandemic Mr. Carlson and I bought a camper,” Mrs. Pommer said. They “were planning to go visit some of the national parks and state parks over the summer.”

You’d think the Saint Stephen’s Upper School Librarian and a Physics teacher would have had a calm summer break, but clearly, this was not the case.

“Unfortunately, because of bad diesel, the camper broke down and we got caught at my parents’ house for three weeks. I got to stay in the same bedroom that I had when I was in high school” Pommer told The Gauntlet.

But apparently, even that wasn’t enough: “while all that was happening and we were up in Maryland, a tree fell on our house.”

During all of this madness, Mr. Carlson and Mrs. Pommer still managed to make the most of their summer vacation by visiting a spot near Cornell called Watson Glen to hike.

Then, misfortune struck again: “when they went to put the roof on the house they cut the electricity to half of our house.” Mrs. Pommer and Mr. Carlson live in a little 1920’s bungalow, and they found out that their house’s electricity wasn’t up to code. So maybe this terrible disaster was a blessing in disguise after all.

Even after all that happened, this crazy adventure all came to a good ending: “we ending up recreating the trip over fourth of July weekend for six days and it was fantastic.”
