Girls Soccer:

It’s that time of the year again: winter sports are underway and practices have been held for about three weeks now.

Last year, the team graduated five seniors: Kendal Miller, Ayla Johnston, Ashleigh Rodhouse, Rena Parent, and Mara Gonzalez.

Senior captain Siddie Pennewill had a few words to say about her new team.

“We’ve been out practicing every day for a few weeks now. We’ve definitely felt the effects of graduating girls, but we’re optimistic. If we continue to work really hard, we can out hustle teams and end the year successfully.”

The girls played their first preseason game last week, losing to Lakewood Ranch 2-0.

“It was just a preseason game, we didn’t even have any refs,” said Pennewill. “Lakewood Ranch has a very good team, so to hold them to 2 goals is an accomplishment. Overall, we felt good about the outcome. I saw a lot of potential during the game that we can tap into.”
