A couple of years ago, Coach Guy Virgilio’s ability to lead the girls to a district District Championship was truly magical. Coach Virgilio brought a lot of zest back into the Saint Stephen’s girls soccer program.
After conducting a thorough search, it’s been announced that our new Head Girls Soccer Coach will be Mr. David Vaudreuil.
This is big news, people.
Coach Vaudreuil is the former Head Coach for the MLS Tulsa Roughnecks Football Club and a former Major League Soccer player.
Vaudreuil (Vawd-REE-uhl) is a former defender and midfielder, having played several seasons in Major League Soccer with D.C. United, the Colorado Rapids and the Chicago Fire. He appeared in 131 total MLS matches from 1996 through 2002.
After his playing days, Vaudreuil moved into coaching and has served in a number of roles, including a stint as head coach with the Atlanta Silverbacks in the old USL First Division. He also coached as an assistant coach to Jay Heaps with the New England Revolution in the MLS and as the General Manager and Head Coach of the AC Milan USA Academy.
Vaudreuil also spent time under new USA National Team Coach Bruce Arena when he served as the head coach of the Los Angeles Galaxy U-18 squad. In addition, he also played for Arena at D.C. United when the squad won its first two MLS Cup titles.
Coach Vaudreuil, a graduate of Princeton University, is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. He holds a “Pro” Coaching License with the United States Soccer Federation. Coach Trey Horne will remain with the team as the assistant coach.
This is sure to be a year for the lady Falcons. Welcome, Coach Vaudreuil.
