Opening chapel a huge hit

Today’s opening chapel, held in Hoagland Arena, was the liveliest in years. It featured a singing performance by Mr. Forrester and Reverend Rich that got the entire school to its feet.

Opening chapel is a time for saying hello to old friends and teachers, setting goals for the new year, and introducing the school theme.  Generally, it’s a structured, calm affair that opens the school year.

This year’s chapel was, different.  With the line up of events, speakers, and performances, there was a different feel, a new energy, a creative spirit that really stuck out.

After administrators delivered the year’s theme, “Perspective,” they called up a group of students from each division to the gym floor to tell their “perspective” on Saint Stephen’s.  From kindergartners to seniors, the Falcons delivered their unique views of our the world here at SSES.  Interviewers Nicky Mattheys (’20) and Zoey Block (’19) facilitated the interviews.

After, administration and staff led the school in a high-octane performance of the famous dance hit “Shout,” by the Isley Brothers.  Mr. Forrester and Rev. Rich sung the song heartily.

This is going to be a good year.  We can feel it.  See you out there!
