Mr. Moran steps in for Mrs. Paleczny and teaches a freshmen class.

When upper school history teacher Mrs. Paleczny goes on maternity leave in the next week or so, a big change will occur in the history department that will take effect until the end of the year.  Mrs. Paleczny covers a wide range of classes, and the gap she’ll leave will be huge. Fortunately, it was announced that long-time, beloved eighth grade history teacher Mr. Moran will be substituting for Mrs. Paleczny.  Mr. Moran retired two years ago.

Mr. Moran taught eighth grade history for 22 years at Saint Stephen’s, but recently retired at the end of the 2015-2016 school year. Mr. Moran’s retirement left a large impact on our school, and many students were devastated to see him leave. Mr. Moran was a highly regarded teacher at Saint Stephen’s, and the fact that he is returning has created a excited atmosphere with the students to see one of their favorite teachers return.

Mr. Moran will be teaching 9th grade sections of the Western Civilization course, Big History, and AP European History.

Mr. Moran loves teaching and misses the relationships that he would build with students.  “The thing I miss most about teaching is the interactions I would have with my students in the classroom,” says Mr. Moran.

Sophomore Siddie Pennewill, who is in Mrs. Paleczny’s Big History class, said, “Having Mr. Moran in the Upper School teaching is awesome. He brings back good eighth grade memories when he was my teacher.  Having him fill in for Mrs. Paleczny is different and exciting.”
