Exchange students enjoying their time on a hike in the mountains.
The Falcons have landed.
On Tuesday April 8, ten students returned to SSES from Cordoba, Argentina, where they had stayed with host families at our sister school Colegio Montserrat as part of a global exchange.
Lasting 10 days, the trip was a moving experience for many, involving numerous adventures and activities, cultural exchange, and the making of new friendships.
The travelers became immersed in Argentinian culture. During their trip, Falcons practiced fencing, learned traditional dances, hiked on scenic mountain trails, and much more.
Junior Marcella Clayton went to Argentina for the first time as a participant.
“I really enjoyed the trip because I liked being able to see the differences between North and South America, the cultural difference,” Clayton said. “The biggest difference was the living conditions.”
When asked if she would encourage others to go on the trip next year, Clayton added: “Yes, I recommend it for someone who wants to see a different part of the world, to push themselves out of their comfort zone.”
While exploring Argentina, Falcons visited the historic city center, attended classes at Colegio Nacional Monserrat, and gave a presentation to Argentinian students on American culture.
College Counselor Vanessa Vogt, who chaperoned the trip, said that she enjoyed the trip and is open to chaperoning again in the future.
Applications for next year’s trip are now open. If you or a friend are interested, please contact Mrs. Hambrick.
