For the third consecutive year, the varsity boys soccer team has comfortably advanced on to the regional semifinal.

In a high-scoring 7-1 victory, the Saint Stephen’s Falcons defeated Fort Myers Canterbury. The team which was captained by Jonathan Boyd and Antonio Colacci dominated the entire game and secured their ticket into the regional semifinal.

The Falcons got off to a remarkable start with a Jonathan Boyd’s goal 25 seconds into the game. Three minutes later, Alex Virgilio scored a goal to put the boys up 2-0 in the first four minutes.

“They could play together with their eyes closed,” said coach Marc Jones regarding the bond between Virgillio and Boyd.

“Everything just clicked,” said Jonathan Boyd, speaking on the success of the team, “We didn’t let our foot off the gas.”

Virgilio added, “We know that any game could be our last and that motivated us greatly.  That, along with a Thierry Henry video [French superstar] that we watched before the game.”

The falcon’s next game is a regional semifinal game being hosted at the Moore Athletic Complex, Tuesday at 7 pm, against Community School of Naples.
