The various clubs offered here at Saint Stephen’s provide a wide spectrum for the Upper School students to choose from according to their interests. Students can join different clubs including Green club, Global Awareness,  Model UN, Future Business Leaders of America, Spanish Club, Latin Club, Academic Team, Creativity Club and more.

Three popular and expanding clubs are Club Cake Pop, Feeding America, and Interact. Here’s a glimpse of clubs that are prominent among the student body.

Club Cake Pop:
Club Cake Pop is there for those of you who want to add some variation to your snack and lunch choices. This club not only teaches members how to create yummy cake pops but simultaneously raises money for the Lord’s Pantry, a charity that provides food to community/local families in need. Junior Samantha Burgess became president this year and said that she joined the club in order to support her sister, who initially started Club Cake Pop, adding that even when she was not a part of the club officially, she always ended up helping bake the cake pops anyways.

Feeding America
This club aims to educate the members about hunger in our community and help those in need in Manatee County any way possible. This club also emphasizes volunteer work, so as a group they go to help out at local soup kitchens and meal-packing venues. Senior Toby Chinwuba, club founder and president, said his goal for this would be to raise two thousand dollars and to change up the different foods they sell during snack and lunch breaks, such as hot chocolate and waffle sales.

This club has become quite popular amongst the all grade levels. Chinwuba said that it may be due to the deliciously enticing snacks that are brought in during meetings. Also, according to Chinwuba, they try to incorporate all of the different ideas and opinions that are introduced by the members.

“They should be able to see what happens behind the scenes,” he said.

Contrary to one’s traditional beliefs about TV, the commercials may actually serve an inspirational purpose, as this was the case for Toby. He said that one day he and his sister, Sophomore Tiffany Chinwuba, were watching a TV commercial about feeding America and his sister said to start a club focusing on local hunger, in the end initiating this popular club here at school.

Interact
Interact Club’s goal is to provide opportunities for community service and fundraising in the area. As their sponsor is the Rotary Club of Bradenton, Interact’s intention is to provide service projects that benefit the local organizations as well as to raise international awareness. Senior and club president Valerie Arias joined the club when it was first started three years ago because the idea of helping others in our community really appealed to her.

Among other clubs, Interact has gained popularity amongst students.
“We are an outlet for each student’s desire to help others,” Arias said.  “We are a club centered around community service and that is an integral part to the Saint Stephen’s community.”

The clubs at Saint Stephen’s provide a wide range of areas to choose from. The members of all different clubs expand their knowledge in those chosen areas, while at the same time having fun and building long lasting friendships.
